Fall in Moore County is pure magic for family photos—the golden light, the changing leaves, and those cozy tones that make your gallery feel warm and timeless. After years of photographing families here, I’ve narrowed down my favorite spots that shine in autumn. Here are some of my favorites 🍂
1. The Arboretum
This one is a classic - the beautiful bridge, soft light streaming through the trees, and colorful leaves that show off fall at its best. And I'll tell you a secret, there's a spot here that has my absolute favorite light in all of Moore County!
2. Rassie Wicker Park
My favorite spot for early risers! Sunrise sessions here are stunning with the light coming over the pine trees, winding paths, and a sweet little grassy area that photographs perfectly.
3. Weymouth Center
I have a love/hate relationship with this location, but in late October through November? Perfection. The tall grasses give you that wide-open fall field look everyone loves.
4. Weymouth Woods
Honestly my overall personal favorite for fall (and winter)! Glowing golden light, winding paths, and endless variety. I love starting deep in the woods and finishing in the brush - it feels like two sessions in one.
5. Small Town Charm (Village of Pinehurst, Downtown Southern Pines, Downtown Aberdeen)
If you’d like something a little different than trees and fields, our local towns are perfect. Think quaint streets, unique architecture, and charming evening light. Each spot has its own personality, and walking around together always makes for a fun, laid-back session.
6. Random Fields + Vacant Lots 🫣
Ok, I lied — these are actually my favorite spots, and I have lots of them! Sometimes the prettiest light pops up behind a building or along the side of a random road. When I ask you to meet me there — just trust me!
